MONROE, CT (WFSB) - Whenever there’s significant rainfall, there’s always concern for flooding, especially near bodies of water.
One point of concern during big storms is the Stevenson Dam in Monroe.
The water was high on Wednesday morning.
It was well over flood stage at one point.

According to the National Weather Service at 4:30 a.m., the water level of the Housatonic River at the Stevenson Dam was 16.22 feet. Flood stage is 11 feet.
Some of the small side roads experienced flooding. Sticks, leaves and sediment were left behind on them.
The water receded later in the morning.
However, officials still sought to remind drivers to steer clear of water-covered roads. The urged them not to maneuver around road barriers.
