Looks like Bruce Springsteen wasn’t born to run upstairs.
The Boss elicited gasps across the internet after taking an epic tumble onstage while performing in the Netherlands over the weekend.
A video of the falling star amassed over 7.4 million views on TikTok as fans expressed concern over the “Dancing in the Dark” singer’s safety.
Springsteen, 73, and the E Street Band were launching their hit song “Ghosts” at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam.
Things took a turn after the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer attempted to walk up the stage stairs with a guitar around his neck, and ended up tripping and falling to the floor as fans gasped.
The “If I Should Fall Behind” crooner lay on his back for several seconds and bandmates immediately rushed over and helped him stand back up.
Thankfully, it appeared Springsteen wasn’t hurt during his impromptu stage dive as he rose to his feet with a smile and quipped, “Good night, everybody.” The multi-Grammy winner then finished the concert like a champ.
Fans were quick to react to the onstage spill. “That was not a very BOSS move,” wrote one viewer on Twitter, while another tweeted, “He’s going down, down, down, down…but he got up and is OK.”
A third praised the Boss for his quick recovery, writing: “He just laughed it off and delivered a fantastic gig to us all.”
However, other crueler trolls on TikTok compared the legend to US President Joe Biden, whose multiple wipeouts while ascending stairs have become a running joke in conservative circles.
Springsteen and the E Street Band are currently in the middle of their 2023 worldwide tour, which began in Tampa, Florida, in February before moving to Europe in April.
Springsteen will return to the US in August, before closing out the tour in December.
