It was quite an early morning sky show as a rare thunderstorm passed through the Bay Area. Take a look at the lightening photos and videos that locals captured and posted on Twitter.

The weather service’s red flag warning, in effect until 11 a.m. Monday for the San Francisco Bay Area, cited “increase in wildfire starts in proximity to thunderstorms due to lightning” as well as a risk of quick spreading because of dry fuel and onshore winds.

After the storms pass, the forecast calls for sunny and hot weather, with highs in the mid-90s in San Jose and near 80 in San Francisco.

A secondary pulse of moisture and instability was expected from late Sunday into early Monday, the weather service said.
