Jason Gough's forecast: One bump in road to dazzling weather - Times Union

We continue to be spoiled by what the atmosphere has to offer. Plenty of sunshine will be with us through lunchtime tomorrow before clouds return with a few showers to open up the Memorial Day weekend. Once we dump those, we're back into the sun for the rest of the weekend and into early next week. Rising temperatures will be the icing on the cake.

Today

It's a clear and cool start to the day, and as the morning proceeds, we'll feel those temperatures shoot up and rather quickly. Temperatures are starting off in the 30s to the mid-40s, but will be well into the 60s by lunchtime, topping out in the upper 60s to the upper 70s later this afternoon. We'll pick up a light south wind, which along with the lower dewpoints, will keep drying up any leftover squishy ground.

It will not quite as chilly or cool tonight with lows in the 40s and low 50s.

Friday into Saturday

We'll start tomorrow off with sunshine but as an upper level storm to our southwest drifts toward the East Coast, it'll be close enough to put a speed bump in our road of fabulous weather. It will be a small one, though.

Sunshine will give way to increasing clouds through the afternoon and into the evening. It'll still be a mild to warm day with highs about the same as today, in the upper 60s to the upper 70s.

A much milder night will be had by all, with clouds in place and a few showers moving in late. Lows will be in the 50s to 60 degrees.

Saturday will continue showers with perhaps a rumble of thunder through about mid-afternoon. It is important to note that the showers will be scattered and not heavy so if you have outdoor plans, just be ready to duck under cover if one shows up. Also important to note that the shower opportunities increase as you head south of the Twin Bridges. Heading north, there will be more sun and no showers north of about Ballston Spa. In the population cluster around Albany, Troy and Schenectady, there will be a few around with the best opportunity coming in the Catskills and mid-Hudson Valley.

It'll still be a mild to warm day with highs in the 70s. Showers will dry up and move out as we get deeper into the afternoon. Skies will clear out a bit with scattered clouds into the night.

Sunday and next week

Sunday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with a light breeze, perhaps with more clouds to the east of the Hudson Valley. Highs will top out once again in the 70s.

Memorial Day and Tuesday will feature more sunshine, more heat and even an increase in humidity as highs in many spots climb into the 80s.

The unofficial start of summer will make it feel official, in other words.

All in all, we're continuing a nice, dry, warm stretch but with only those showers for the first half or so of Saturday. That my friends, is money.

Have a great day!
