It’s for good reason that Duxbury made our list of the top Massachusetts places to live this year—and this waterfront villa is a stunning embodiment of what the South Shore town has to offer. Positioned on Standish Shore, just above its private beach, the property also claims a grassy lawn and a patio that you could practically live on all summer. Float in the heated pool or hot tub, take shelter in the shade of the pavilion, or barbecue a feast in the souped-up outdoor kitchen, which includes a Lynx Sedona grill, pizza oven, ice maker, sink, and raised bar area.

The house’s kitchen makes a pretty compelling argument to spend some time inside, too. From its two dishwashers and Wolf range to its leathered marble countertops and butler’s pantry big enough to tuck away any clunky cookware, it’s a true chef’s kitchen. The coffered ceilings open up to a vaulted canopy above the living room, which is anchored by a soaring stone fireplace and two levels of windows with blue ocean-and-sky views. While the home was only built in 2016, the timbers that accent the ceilings and fireplace mantel in this room actually date back to 1700—they were sourced from an old Maine barn to bring some bygone character into the new build.

The lower level’s wine cellar opts for old-world charm too, featuring a cross vault ceiling, stone walls, and a wooden door brought home from Morocco, all working together to transform this beach home’s basement into an authentic wine cave. The wall racks can cradle 216 Merlots at room temp, and the custom wine fridge can keep some 168 Sauvignon Blancs chilled. And, whether you’re serving a cheese board or a five-course meal alongside your tasting, the dumbwaiter that services the cellar from the butler’s pantry will save you a few trips upstairs. In case you’re craving a beverage that doesn’t come in a wine glass, the cave shares a floor with a full wet bar, as well as a guest suite, home gym, and family room, outfitted with bright white walls and those antique barn beams.

The master bedroom is up on the second floor, and it might be the most soothing room of the entire house, which is saying a lot in a home with a dedicated meditation room (also located in the basement). The ensuite bathroom is a miniature spa with tons of open space, a resin soaking tub, dual head shower, and a bidet. The bedroom itself takes beautiful advantage of Duxbury Bay, using cathedral ceilings and high windows to maximize the views, which are heightened by the home’s positioning 30 feet above sea level. Over in the corner, the bedroom’s turret boasts a semicircular panorama and a suspended daybed, where you can swing back and forth along with the ocean waves.
