Houston's contemporary art scene just got greater.
Fort Bend-based Art Museum TX is dedicated to the presentation and understanding of Texas contemporary art through exhibits, educational programming and events — and they just opened a gallery in the LaCenterra shopping center.

“We want to be the small art museum in your neighborhood- to be accessible- open when you are available,” said curator Ana Villaronga-Roman, per Houston Chronicle's Claire Goodman. “We are dedicated to the suburbs and small cities surrounding H-Town. We are where people already frequent. No need for a special trip.”
The gallery is equipped with only pieces from Texas artists who proudly represent the community, most of which are from Houston, as reported by Goodman.
In her continued efforts to use art to engage the community, the gallery will also serve as the host site for special events including art mixers, open houses and artist receptions, per Goodman.
While the gallery itself isn't selling the pieces on display, price lists are available upon request and viewers can purchase pieces by connecting directly with the artist.
Art Museum is taking their efforts a bit further with a second location opening at Sugar Land Town Square in May, per a press release.

“Art Museum TX’s mission reflects the future vision of Sugar Land Town Square, which is to enhance culture through our local creatives,” said Matt Ragan of Sugar Land Town Square. “From opening day, Art Museum TX will enrich the cultural fabric of this community hub and gathering place with its ever-rotating, thoughtfully curated exhibits spotlighting Texan talent.”
Despite the uncertainty of the past year, Villaronga-Roman said the museum continued to have an impact and "we stay steadfast in our goal of doing our part in building Fort Bend’s reputation as an art market to watch."
