Ever since Ferdinand Porsche founded his automobile company in Stuttgart in 1931, the sports cars it has produced have been defined by their practicality, sharp design and good taste.
Unfortunately that doesn’t always apply to the company’s customers. The owner of a Porsche Panamera in Dresden was ordered to take his vehicle off the road because it was wrapped in gold vinyl. Police said they acted not on a matter of taste but because they feared it might dazzle other motorists.
The €150,000 vehicle with a Bulgarian numberplate was impounded and its 29-year-old owner warned that it would be subject to a road safety review.
A traffic official inspected the car and confirmed that it posed a safety risk.
