EDWARDSVILLE — The Theatre Department of Metro-East Lutheran High School will be back on the stage this weekend for the first time since the start of the pandemic with its production of “Pride and Prejudice.”
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 15 and 16, in the Henschen Alumni Hall on Metro-East Lutheran High School’s campus at 6305 Center Grove Road.
The play is based on the novel by Jane Austen and was adapted for the stage by Jon Jury.
Due to the pandemic, it has been two years since the MELHS Theatre Department has been able to present a live production. Last year, they produced a musical review that was available only for streaming online.
“We are really excited to be able to perform live theatre again,” said Judy Brown, director of the performance. “We selected this play for our return to the stage because it is a classic story with so many great characters. We can’t wait to share it with our audiences.”
The cast for “Pride & Prejudice” includes: Christian Greer as Mr. Bennet; Katherine Donovan as Mrs. Bennet; Rhiannon LaZella as Elizabeth Bennet; Erin VanMiddendorp as Jane Bennet; Eliza Hurn as Mary Bennet; McKenna Getta as Kitty Bennet; Sofia Stiller as Lydia Bennet; Harry Mueller as Mr. Darcy; Christian Broekemeier as Mr. Bingley; Ben Ettling as Sir William Lucas; Ethan Massa as Mr. Collins; Gwendolyn Chapman as Miss Bingley; Parker Gearns as George Wickham; Brooke Wade as Lady Catherine DeBourgh; and Kathren Wright as the Housekeeper.
