The Sealy Chamber of Commerce celebrated a Dazzling Night of Stars with its annual banquet Friday night at the Sealy Knights of Columbus Hall.
Approximately 380 people attended the banquet where they were treated to a choice of grilled chicken or ribeye steak from Ben’s Chuck Wagon, an eclectic array of desserts from the dessert auction, and “clean” Texas humor from comedian Todd Justice. Dinner hour music was provided by Don Allphin.
Among the highlights of the banquet were the annual awards. The Pinnacle Award went to Gulf States Toyota. Business of the year went to Acme Brick. Dazzling Star Award went to 1st Texas Home Health. The 2019 Volunteer of the Year was Nancy James and the 2019 Blue Blazer fo the Year was Jenny Woodruff of Patient Better LLC.
Austin County Judge Tim Lapham swore in the new slate of chamber directors. They include Carolyn Bilski, Anne Frye, Robert Emshoff, Rosa Hawkes, Nancy James, Virginia Gilbert, Martha Martinez, Kay Krampitz, Kristen Novicke, Devena Pancherz, Jay Patel, Keith Oliver, Kelly Snyder, Marti Powell, and Joe Svrcek. James was welcomed as the new chamber president.
Vince Wollney was honored as the past president along with outgoing directors Toni Franklin, Dora Martinez, Mitja Peterman, and Greg Stuessel.
Jeff Virnau of Virnau Sealy Tractor reprised his role as master of ceremonies. The dessert auction brought in $3,500 and the silent auction netted $4,000 for the chamber.
“As a chamber, we were blessed to have such a wonderful committee that worked long and hard to make this a very special event for all our members, our ‘Dazzling Stars,’” said Tammy Hall, the chamber’s executive assistant. “It was very heartwarming to see everyone having such a fun time throughout the event. Kristie and Bethany with Whataburger topped the evening with the photobooth. So much fun was had while photos were being taken! Ben’s Chuck Wagon went above and beyond with the exceptional prime rib and chicken as Don Allphin played wonderful music in the background.”
“From the deepest part of our hearts, the chamber would like to thank each guest, volunteer, and our committee for making this year’s annual banquet the most dazzling ever,” Hall added.
