Trucking has been the theme of the 2021 season for Ryan Preece. As in trucking all over the country to compete in events.

Outside of his regular schedule with JTG Daugherty in the NASCAR Cup Series, the Berlin native has been tripping all over the East coast since February chasing starts in Modified events.

Friday he added a new a division to his resume and made quick work of finding victory lane.

In his first start with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Preece topped the field in the Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway Friday.

“That was a lot of fun,” Preece said. “Really I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know anything. I was just taking the guidance from [crew chief] Chad [Johnston] and my teammates and told them I’d be better in the race than I was in qualifying and practice. And fortunately, I lived up to that.”

Preece, who finished third in the Nutmeg State 75 Tour Type Modified feature Wednesday at Thompson Speedway, became the fifth driver in Camping World Truck Series history to win in his debut in the division.

Preece took the lead from Grant Enfinger on lap 144 of the 150 lap race and rolled to victory.

“Chad [Johnston] did an awesome job calling the race,” Preece said. “Great adjustments. Awesome car. … This Ford F150 was pretty stout. Thank you Kevin Harvick, KHI Management, Hunt Brothers Pizza and Martin Buildings for stepping up and allowing me to come out here and do this. This is why I love to race. I love winning.”

It marked the third victory in one of NASCAR’s top-three national series’ for the 2013 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion. He had two victories driving for Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2017 and 2018.

Preece’s teammate Todd Gilliland was second and Enfinger was third.
